Myriam Farina and Guido Ponzini, both graduated with high honors at Conservatory “A. Boito” in Parma (Italy), have been awarded for their ideas of musical innovation becoming winners in St. Petersburg at the international and one-of-a-kind musical contest "Terem Crossover 2012" with an additional special prize as "best musical proposal and musicality”. The same year MG_INC are invited as opening act at the sold out concert of Ryuchi Sakamoto and Alva Noto at the Auditorium Paganini in Parma. Their debut album "Almost in the air: antichi strumenti, nuovi suoni",  published by label Acte Prèalable, is a long journey through the compositions of Philip Glass, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Joe Hisaishi, Yann Tiersen, Nobuo Uematsu, Giovanni Sollima, arranged in a new, fun and freshly picked way by a young dynamic duo. MG_INC duo, despite his recent foundation, played in important festivals and events, such as “Festival di Torrechiara Renata Tebaldi”, “Festival Verdi”, “Giornata internazionale della Viola da gamba”,“TEDxBologna” (presenting the concept of innovations on ancient instruments), “MUSMA” in Matera, RAI Radio 3 with the live broadcastin “Piazza Verdi”, "Che Tempo Che Fa" live on RAI 3, "Festival Internazionale dell'Arpa" in Isolabona, "Festival dell'Arpa" in Viggiano", "Suoni d'Arpa" in Salsomaggiore, Grand Hall of the Philarmonia and State Cappella in St. Petersburg; the italian national newspaper “La Repubblica” published their video “L’inno d’Italia” on the theme of cultural crisis with more than 1500 views on the first day. 
Now they are working on a new project called “classico_contemporaneo” featuring new compositions based on themes from the classical tradition of composers as G.Verdi, P. I. Tschaicovskj, A. C. Debussy, J. Brahms, G. F. Handel. This project includes the MG_INC Orchestra, the first italian ensemble created with crowd funding campaign in 2013 that has been distinguished in several events for its artistical quality, for example with norvegian band ULVER in a sold-out concert at Teatro Regio in Parma performing Messe I.X - VI.X, together with Arisa in the live broadcast at the italian national television and in the premiere of “Chirality - Virginal Coordinates 2015” with the american composer and violist Eyving Kang that defined his work with MG_INC Orchestra “one of the best experience in my life”. The main aim of the MG_INC Orchestra is to give an opportunity to all the young talents to emerge, promoting in the world the contemporary music with a young and dynamic approach through the commission to composers of Fantasies on the most famous themes of the classical repertoire, but also with compositions written especially for their ensemble and welcoming artistic collaborations at 360° in order to develop new and cutting-edge projects thanks to the possible use of live visuals and electronic music. 


MYRIAM FARINA

Myriam Farina, young harpist graduated in 2013 at Conservatory "A.Boito" in Parma with maximum vote and high honors, has performed as soloist in concerts and national competitions in Brindisi, in which she was ranked as 1st in her class for three times (from 2001 till 2003 with an award the last year), the Kinderfestival in Lecce in 2004 (finalist and ranked 2nd out of 120 partecipants), performing also in the same years until 2011 in several Salvi events and festivals. She performed in various public events, including “700 years since the founding of Martina Franca” in 2010, and with the “Nuova Era” orchestra during the “Marco Allegri” festival in Castrocaro. On September 2012 she played solo orchestra at Regio Theater in Parma with counductor Andrea Battistoni. Since 2006, she attended various international courses, including Castrocaro and Noto ones, two editions of “International Summer Camp” helded in Pianello-Tidone and “UmbriaEstate” at the Accademia Musicale Internazionale Perugia, where she won the award in 2011 for artistic skill. In the years 2007 and 2008 she organized special musical programs for families and hospitals in Ragusa and Modica. She attended masterclasses with teachers Emanuela Degli Esposti, Ieuan Jones, Elizabeth Fontan- Binoche, Letizia Belmondo and others. In 2011 she started a research regarding playing and developing contemporary music languages on harp in duo with Guido Ponzini at the viola da gamba, founding MG_INC. The duo, in 2012, won the internal prestigious competition “Terem Crossover 2012”, held in St. Petersburg, with an additional special price for the “Best Musical Proposal”. In the same year MG_INC duo has been opening act for the sold-out concert in Auditorium Paganini in Parma of Ryuchi Nakamoto and Alva Noto. With this project she played in important festivals such as “Festival Internazionale dell’Arpa”, “Musica nei castelli”, “Festival of Torrechiara – Renata Tebaldi”, “International Day of the Viola da Gamba” and taking part to the international event “TEDxBologna (Techno- logy, Entertainment, Design)”. MG_INC debut album “Almost in the air: antichi strumenti, nuovi suoni” has been released by Acte Prealable and presented live at the italian national radio program “Piazza Verdi” - RAI Radio 3. She is now studying Conduction at Conservatory “A. Boito” in Parma and she is working as musician performing in numerous events as a soloist, as a duo with MG_INC, in ensembles of harps, in chamber ensembles and in orchestras. She also teaches her musical knowledge and her experience in the research of contemporary music and new media in private schools and Universities. In 2013 she founded, together with Guido Ponzini, the MG_INC Orchestra, the first italian ensemble created with crowdfunding campaign, that has been distinguished in several events for its artistical quality, for example with norvegian band ULVER in a sold-out concert at Teatro Regio in Parma performing Messe I.X - VI.X, together with Arisa in the live broadcast at the italian national television and in the premiere of “Chirality - Virginal Coordinates 2015” with the american composer and violist Eyving Kang that defined his work with MG_INC Orchestra “one of the best experience in my life”.

 


GUIDO PONZINI

Guido Ponzini has played and recorded as virtuoso bassist and Chapman Stick player with various artists of the Real World of Peter Gabriel (Guo Yue, Joji Hirota, Adel Salameh, Ayub Ogada). He is graduated with high honors in Viola da Gamba (with M°Roberto Gini) and with high honors and academic mention in Electronic Music (with M°Javier Maldonado Torres) at Conservatory "A.Boito" in Parma. As a composer and sound designer he has worked for Nintendo Europe, IK Multimedia, Lancia, Fiat, AMREF, Lomography. He also wrote for theatre and multimedia. He recently recorded with the viola da gamba the soundtrack for the blockbuster video game Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood, composed by award-winning composer Jesper Kyd and featuring one of the best sound-designer in the world, Diego Stocco. He is featured in the new album of the italian songwriter Ivano Fossati. He has performed as a soloist and with ensembles in major international festivals, such as the Akkordeon Festival Wien, Jazzahead Bremen, Festival di Torrechiara “Renata Tebaldi”, Suoni dell’altro mondo, Lo Sguardo di Ulisse, Nottetempo, Musica nei Castelli, Jazz Groove Venice, and many others. In 2006 he published his first solo album for the German label Ozella Music, Twilight Town (nomination for best solo composition for the Just Plain Music Awards Americans), followed in 2009 by Plugin and Contemporary Music and Ponzini plays Uematsu, for the American Porter Records, the first concerto of contemporary-classical music for chapman stick and string orchestra recorded with musicians from Ennio Morricone’s orchestra, Roma Sinfonietta. This album also includes re- arrangements for viola da gamba of a selection of works from the famous Japanese composer Nobuo Uematsu. His music has been played by BBC Radio 3, RAI Radiotre and many others. In 2011 he founded the MG_INC harp duo with Myriam Farina, exploring the new languages of viola da gamba, presenting the project in the international event TED x Bologna (Technology, Entertainment, Design). The duo became winners at the international and one-of-a-kind musical contest "Terem Crossover 2012", with an additional special prize as "best musical proposal and musicality". MG_INC debut album “Almost in the air: antichi strumenti, nuovi suoni” has been released by Acte Prealable and presented live at the italian national radio program “Piazza Verdi” - RAI Radio 3.In 2013 Myriam and Guido created the MG_INC Orchestra, the first italian ensemble funded with crowd funding campaign, which already collaborated with musicians as ULVER (at the sold-out performance of Messe I.X / IX.X at Regio Theater in Parma) and Arisa, promoting also the commission of premiere performances and scores. As sound-designer studies the application of sensors and new technologies in relation to generative music, live visuals and mobile phones applications: its composition Orpheus (2014) for string trio and laptop ensemble won the category Laptop Ensemble Festival Di_Stanze.
